Invisalign Desert Ridge AZ

Since they were first “invented” in 1997, Invisalign® clear aligners have risen to become an incredibly popular option for both teens and adults who want to have straighter teeth, more beautiful smiles, and greater self-confidence about their appearance. The main reason for their popularity: Desert Ridge Invisalign is clear — so clear, they’ve earned themselves the nickname “invisible braces.” In fact, while you’re wearing Invisalign aligners, there’s a really good chance no one will even know they’re in your mouth, hard at work improving your smile.

That crystal-clear design is actually just one of the benefits Invisalign offers. At Dunn Orthodontics, we help patients lock in all the advantages of Invisalign Desert Ridge AZ. If you’re thinking about Invisalign clear aligners for yourself or for your child, here are some other factors you might want to consider.

How does Desert Ridge Invisalign work?

Invisalign looks a lot different from traditional metal or clear braces, but the way it works is essentially the same. Orthodontic treatment aims to move your teeth into ideal alignment, and it does that by applying gentle pressure to your teeth — from the tips all the way down to the roots. Braces exert pressure using brackets and wires (and regular monthly adjustments or “tightenings”). Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners. Each series contains multiple aligner sets (for upper and lower teeth), and each set is shaped slightly differently. Those shape differences help keep your teeth moving in the right direction. The aligner sets are worn in a specific sequence, and every two weeks or so, you’ll exchange your current set for the next set in the series.

Invisalign also uses a special material called SmartTrackTM to help teeth move. This unique material offers several important advantages:

  • It provides better control of tooth movement, for custom treatments focused on every patient’s unique needs.
  • It enhances gentle pressure for more effective (and more comfortable) tooth movement.
  • It shortens treatment time and improves predictability of your results.
  • It makes it a lot easier to take the aligners off and on.
  • It’s designed to conform to unique tooth contours for a more comfortable, snug fit.

SmartTrack is the product of more than a decade of research, and Desert Ridge Invisalign system is the only clear aligner system that uses Smart Track.

What benefits does Invisalign offer?

The best-known benefit is Desert Ridge Invisalign’s crystal-clear design, but there are plenty of other benefits, too:

  • The aligners are completely smooth, so you don’t have to worry about sore spots from brackets or wires.
  • You won’t have any wire or bracket “tightenings,” and that means you also won’t have the discomfort that can follow braces adjustments.
  • You can eat whatever you like — just slip out the aligners for meals and snacks.
  • Since you remove your aligners to brush and floss, caring for your teeth is easier, too.
  • Treatment typically can be completed in less time than with braces — sometimes significantly less time.

And of course, your aligners are custom-made for you, for individualized treatment that’s a lot more comfortable.

What’s involved in Invisalign treatment?

Once we determine that Invisalign is a good choice for you, the orthodontist will take very precise measurements of your teeth and your jaws. These measurements are fed into a computer at the lab where your aligners are made. The computer uses special software to develop a series of 3D models that depict the movements your teeth need to make during your treatment. Then the computer uses those models to create your aligners using that special SmartTrack material.

You’ll wear your aligners 22 hours each day, taking them out to eat meals and snacks and to brush and floss your teeth. Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks. Then, you’ll swap that set for the next set in the series. About every six weeks, you’ll come in for a check-up to make sure your treatment is on track. Most people can finish their Desert Ridge Invisalign treatment in two years or less, but your treatment time will vary based on your specific needs.

Is Desert Ridge Invisalign a good choice for every person?

Today’s Invisalign aligners are a great choice for treating lots of spacing and alignment issues, including:

  • Overbites
  • Underbites
  • Crossbites
  • Open bites
  • Crowded teeth
  • Crooked teeth

Still, they’re not always the right choice for every patient. There are a few very complex problems that respond better to traditional braces. During your consultation visit, we’ll be able to determine if Invisalign is right for you or if braces are a better choice to help you meet your goals.

Orthodontic treatment is a medical treatment that involves your teeth and your jaw bones. As your tooth roots move, the jaw bone around them must continually remodel itself to adjust to those movements. Having regular “check-ins” with your orthodontist helps ensure your treatment is on track, and it also helps identify potential problems so they can be corrected right away. Orthodontic treatment isn’t a simple process. It requires ongoing care by a skilled orthodontist to help you get the results you want without risking your oral health.
