Unlike traditional braces that use elastic ties, 
Damon System braces have a sliding door mechanism to hold the archwire in place. This sliding door mechanism creates a tunnel that holds the wire while letting it slide freely. Many believe the free sliding of Damon braces results in reduced friction leading quicker alignment of teeth with less discomfort.
