Goodyear Orthodontist’s Cervical Pull Facebow
Since the patient has a deep bite, the facebow of choice would be a cervical pull facebow. The cervical pull facebow has the benefit in this case of causing some extrusion of the maxillary 1st molars. The benefit of this is that it will help open up her deep bite. The Goodyear orthodontist would want the outer bow bent up in relation to the inner bow. This will put the line of action above the molar’s center of resistance, resulting in distal root tipping. If the bow were tipped down, it would cause more distal crown tipping (better for anchorage, not Class II correction).
